The French Gefco logistics group announced the opening of a branch in the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty. The new subsidiary, which has been operational since June 27 last year and is led by Sultan Zhassybay - said the group - will allow GEFCO to respond more effectively to the needs of its customers, given the growing role of Kazakhstan and the geopolitical ' increase in global logistics flows in the country.
"The favorable geographical position of Kazakhstan, at the center of the Eurasian landmass - Sultan confirmed Zhassybay - allows us to interpret the role of the main transit bridge between Europe and Asia by joining the Central Asian countries like Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan to Europe. China itself has access to European and Russian markets through our territory. In addition, we are experiencing a great growth industry of Kazakhstan and foreign trade, which consequently means a win-win situation for the development of transport and logistics infrastructure. "
Initially GEFCO Kazakhstan will support customers of the group and then try to expand its portfolio. The affiliate team will consist of 10 employees by the end of 2011.
