Port of Ancona
Passengers' service
In the last twenty years passengers' traffic in the port of Ancona
has risen very fast, beyond expectation. In 1995 over 700,000
passengers transited the port of Ancona.
Traffic is heavier mainly in Summer and mostly between the countries
of North-west Europe and the countries of the Adriatic Sea (in
particular Greece, Croatia, Albania and Turkey).
The recent operation of new very fast carriers has created a considerably
addition flow of passenger traffic with cars and trucks. 4,500
million liras have recently been appropriated for the restructuring
and the development of port facilities used for passengers' service.
