Port of Genoa
The establishment of the Port Independent Union
The Port of Genoa Independent Union (Consorzio Autonomo del Porto di Genova) was established under the law 12-2-1903 n. 50 ("Law for the establishment of an independent union for the execution of the works and for the operation of the port of Genoa"), that in article 1, section 1 said as follows:
It is established a binding union with the authority to see, with the special funds it receives, to the execution of the works, to the management and the coordination of the services of the port of Genoa....
The change of the port organizations into port authorities was established by the law 28-1-1994 n. 84 ("Reorganization of the legislation in the subject of port") that in article 6 (Port Authority), paragraph 1 decrees:
In the ports of Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Civitavecchia, Genova, La Spezia, Livorno, Marina di Carrara, Messina, Napoli,
Palermo, Ravenna, Savona, Taranto, Trieste and Venezia the port authority is established.... and by the decree with the force of law 22-12-94 n. 696
("Urgent interventions in favour of the port and shipping sector") that in article 3, paragraph 9, point 5 says:
the port authorities are established from the 1st. of January 1995 and from that date they assume every duty... and the management of the maritime property included in the area is conveyed to them...
