PLTC = The Port of Livorno Container Terminal (formed by the CILP and by the port entrepreneurs Bartoli, Favilli, Politi, Lorenzini, Intercontainers) - (Tuscan Dockyard: more than 1000 mts. of quay and an area of more than 200.000 sq. m. , with an operating capacity of more than 400.000 teu per year. The works on the Eastern side that will double the terminal are at their height. The Tuscan dockyard is served by 6 portainers <2 of them postPanamax>; it is connected with the motorway and railway system). The PLTC has in the Tuscan dockyard an area of nearly 100.000 sq. m. with 3 transtainers, 7 front-loaders and several trucks (in 1994 it shifted nearly 100.000 teu)
The chairman is the substitute consul of the CLP.

PORT ORGANIZATION

The chairman of the Port Authority of Livorno, Nereo Marcucci, signs (February 1996) the memorandum of four associations; to which the shares of four terminals to privatize are bestowed:

• Western side of the Tuscan dockyard (in 1995 the terminal had a traffic of 243.000 teu);
• goods in bulk terminal on the Orlando shipyard
• high sounding quay
• Valessini terminal

At the head of the associations there are four "guarantors", the lawyers from Livorno Giuseppe Angella, Antonio Bellesi, Giuliano Corsini, Ippolito Musetti.

Areas, opens, mechanical means of quay and staff from the ex Azienda Mezzi Meccanici, as outfit to the cranes, have been allotted to this four associations.

Il 9 settembre 1996 prende il via il primo terminal privato, la Terminal Calata Orlando (capitale 800 milioni, presidente Luigi Del Corona, amministratore delegato Gabriele Gargiulo, direttore generale Federico Barbero) a cui partecipano:
50% Terminal Rinfuse Mediterranee (Carlo Laviosa srl, Pilade Giani srl, Giorgio Gragnani srl, Agrimar srl, Umberto Del Corona snc, F.lli Scardigli srl, CoSpeMar srl)
25% Compagnia Portuale Livorno scrl
25% Politi & Figli di Imbarchi e Sbarchi

Nei primi giorni di ottobre 1996 viene privatizzato il secondo terminal, il Terminal Valessini (capitale 400 milioni) a cui partecipano due gruppi: il primo è costituito dalla società figli di Nado Neri; il secondo da CILP (Compagnia Impresa Lavoratori Portuali), Intercontainer, Interrepairs, Doleterm e Sirio Volpi. Nel terminal vengono movimentati prodotti forestali in un magazzino doganale coperto di 5000 mq, e pianali in area nazionale e container frigo in area estera (complessivamente un piazzale di 8000 mq).

Il 7 dicembre 1996 inizia l’attività della Terminal Porto Commerciale su una superficie di 68.000 mq nelle zone M e K e aree sotto Paceco con magazzini Taf Nord, Alto Fondale e Docks Etruschi. Mezzi di sollevamento: due Paceco, una Ceretti da 30 tonnellate e tre Reggiane da 8/16 tonnellate. La società è gestita dalla Compagnia impresa dei lavoratori portuali, che ha firmato un contratto quadriennale (1997-2000) con la società svedese Star Shipping Bjorn Ostenword per lo sbarco di prodotti forestali.

A fine 1996 viene assegnata la Darsena Toscana alla Terminal Darsena Toscana srl, di cui fanno parte la Sintermar, la Compagnia Impresa Lavoratori Portuali (CILP) e la Sinport (Fiatimpresit).

CONTAINER TRAFFIC 1995

According to statistics of the CdC, in 1995 the traffic was of 432.000 teu (371.000 in1994, +14,2%: increase of 14,1% the full loads and 14,4% the empties. It is clearer the difference of increase between sailings +11% and landings +17,1%).
