10 marzo 2006 Nel 2005 sono stati oltre 9,7 milioni i crocieristi nordamericani (+3,5%) Il numero delle crociere è stato analogo a quello dell’anno precedente Lo scorso anno il traffico crocieristico nordamericano è ammontato ad oltre 9,7 milioni di passeggeri, con un incremento del 3,5% rispetto al 2004. Le crociere - ha reso noto mercoledì scorso l’U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) - sono state 4.463, contro 4.465 nel 2004. La crescita - ha osservato MARAD - è stata inferiore rispetto agli ultimi anni, in parte a causa degli uragani che hanno caratterizzato la scorsa stagione crocieristica, ma il tasso di occupazione è risultato estremamente elevato ed ha raggiunto quasi il 110%. Particolarmente rilevante la crescita dell’attività crocieristica nei porti che non sono stati interessati dal passaggio degli uragani: nel 2005 le partenze da Los Angeles sono aumentate del 41,5%, da Honolulu del 37,9% e da Jacksonville del 20,5%. New Orleans, devastata dall’uragano Katrina, ha registrato un calo del 22,2% rispetto al 2004 nonostante nel primo semestre dello scorso anno le partenze siano cresciute del 23,7%. Lo scorso anno le partenze di crocieristi dai porti di Miami, Port Canaveral e Fort Lauderdale sono state pari al 43% delle partenze complessive, contro il 49% del 2003.
