- Inaugurated a new crane Spezia Speter
- There are 1,540 employees of companies in the port of La Spezia
Today in the port of La Spezia has been inaugurated a new crane owned by Speter Spa, a company that operates the terminal at Calata Paita and Molo Garibaldi. The lifting device, which is a model Gottwald G HMK 7608 worth over three million euro, arrived by ship on 22 November and was assembled directly on Calata Paita. The crane, 150 tons, has a radius of 51 meters, is equipped with twin-lift spreader and is the third half Gottwald bought by Speter in recent years.
- The company Spezia terminal operator has in place an investment program worth more than € 11 million in the 2008-2011 period, of which € 1.72 million of expected this year. Speter employees grew from 154 in 2008 to 156 in 2010 and this year will rise to 164.
- The inauguration was attended by the president of La Spezia, Lorenzo Forcieri, the CEO of Speter, Riccardo Failla, and CEO of La Spezia Container Terminal, Marco Simonetti.
- At the ceremony Forcieri has released the numbers for total employment in port are 1540 employees of the port companies, an increase of 6% in 2010. Based on the operational plans submitted by the various companies it is assumed that this trend can be maintained and enhanced in 2011.
