- Unannounced inspections at the company Baltic EU rail freight
- The European Commission deemed to have violated EU antitrust rules
Yesterday, European Commission officials carried out unannounced inspections at the offices of the Baltic countries of companies operating in the field of rail transport of goods and related industry. The survey aims to ascertain whether these companies, as the Commission believes have violated EU antitrust rules prohibiting cartels, the implementation of restrictive trade practices or abuse of dominant market position.
- During the investigation the Commission officials were accompanied by representatives of the relevant national competition authorities.
- The Commission pointed out that there is no deadline for a law establishing the duration of investigations on anti-competitive conduct and, therefore, their duration depends on a number of factors including the complexity of each case, the extent to which these companies cooperate with the Commission and the exercise of the right to defense.
