- Costa Fabulous has successfully passed the tests at sea
- The baptism of the cruise ship will take place July 2 in Trieste with a public event
 Fabulous Costa, the new flagship of the fleet of Costa Cruises, which opens on 2 July in Trieste, has successfully passed the official tests at sea. The unit, the fifteenth of the fleet of the company and the largest vessel flying the Italian flag, was built by Fincantieri in Marghera plant and addressed the first sea crossing which took place during the tests, which verified the correct operation of plant, equipment and engines.
- During the tests at sea Fabulous Costa was brought up to the maximum speed of over 23 knots, which was maintained for eight consecutive hours in order to prove the strength of the ship. It was also carried out a "crash stop", or a total stop from maximum speed to see how many feet the ship stopped in an emergency.During the test, called "UMS" Fabulous Costa sailed for six consecutive hours with only the automatic control of systems of power generation and propulsion, and finally with the proof "black out" was interrupted the supply of electricity and verified the automatic restart of all functions of the ship.
- Terminate the test is returned to the ship yard in Marghera to complete the construction of the Interior for the forthcoming entry into service. Fabulous Coast will be delivered on June 30 and the baptism will take place two days later in Trieste with a public event, open to city, which will be a tribute to Italy, a celebration of the Italian character: art, beauty, music, characters, history, through an extraordinary experience that will involve the whole environment around Square 'Unification of Italy, from the sea, the buildings, the sky.
- Costa Fabulous, of 114,500 gross tons, has a capacity of 3,800 passengers and its implementation Costa Cruises has supported a total investment of about EUR 420 million. After Costa Fabulous in Spring 2012 is scheduled for delivery in the twin Fascinosa Costa, currently still under construction in Marghera.
