- The Government confirms the convening of Fincantieri and trade unions to June 3
- Calvin (Confindustria Genova): Measures for limiting the negative effects of the crisis on the shipbuilding industry
 The Minister of Economic Development, Paolo Romani, confirmed the meeting scheduled for June 3 vertices of Fincantieri and national unions to discuss the plan of reorganization of the shipbuilding industry. This plan, which was presented yesterday to trade unions and providing for 2,551 redundancies, the closure of two yards of Castellammare di Stabia and Sestri Ponente and the downsizing of the plant in Riva Trigoso (  of 23 May 2011), has sparked strong reactions of workers who have staged protests immediately, continued today with demonstrations and strikes, during which there have been accidents with injuries and among the demonstrators from the police.
- Commenting on the developments, the president of Confindustria Genova, John Calvin, said he hoped that the meeting set with the company and the unions that the government can offer initiatives to limit the negative effects of this crisis on the sector of shipbuilding. The declarations of the Summits of Fincantieri, in fact - said Calvin - seems to be opening by the company to ensure that the employment effects, Genoa and Riva Trigoso, are smaller and the social implications of lower impact. Calvin has also reaffirmed the commitment by Confindustria Genova - albeit in a particularly difficult sector - to keep the industrial vocation of the areas concerned and the continuity of work, planning a future that is otherwise consistent with the evolution domestic demand and international markets.
