- In April, the traffic of goods in the port of Genoa is up 2.3%
- Slight decrease of cargo and more pronounced decrease of mineral oils. Increases in dry bulk
Last month, the traffic of goods in the port of Genoa has grown by 2.3% to 4,291,087 tonnes compared to 4,193,785 tonnes in April 2010. The traffic of cargo has suffered a drop of 1, 0% determined by a contraction of 3.6% of the volume of containerized cargo, which fell to 1,480,275 tons, while the conventional loads were up 4.5% to 751,507 tons. The handling of containers amounted to 147,968 teu (+0.8%).
- The traffic of dry bulk cargo was 129,062 tons (+145.2%) in addition to 379,526 tons of cargo handled in the industrial sector (+42.7%), of which 358,207 tons of steel (+48.4%) and 21,319 tons of other bulk cargo (-13.4%).
- Mineral oils totaled 1,358,336 tons, down 6.7% compared with April 2010. Other liquid bulk cargo totaled 87,667 tonnes (+13.5%), of which 41,777 tons of vegetable oil and wine (+56.7%) and 45,890 tons of chemical products (-9.2%).
- In the field of passenger traffic was 209,823 units (+1.5%), including 82,370 cruise passengers (+10.9%) and 127,453 passengers on scheduled services (-3.7%).
- In the first quarter of 2011 the port of Genoa has handled a total of 17,496,837 tons of cargo, an increase of 6.9% over the same period last year. The containerized cargo was 6,101,819 tonnes (+7.1%) and conventional cargo 2,801,006 tons (+6.3%). The terms of container traffic in 20 'containers amounted to 597,974 teu (+7.7%). The traffic of dry bulk cargo was 471,518 tonnes (+11.3%) in addition to 1,393,431 tons handled in the industrial sector (+39.1%). Mineral oils totaled 5,996,739 tons (+1.0%) and other liquid bulk 328,236 tonnes (+7.5%).
- In the first four months of this year passengers have been 525,941 (-1.8%), including 198,813 cruise passengers (+1.7%) and 327,128 ferry passengers (-3.8%).
