- The ports of Venice and Santos will work together to increase the import-export business between Brazil and Italy
- Provided for the exchange of know-how in environmental matters and management of the cruise sector and the start of training
Today, on the sidelines of the seminar "Brazil-Italy: cooperation at seaports and logistics integration", organized at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome, the secretary general of the Port Authority of Venice, Franco Sensini, met Roberto Correia José Serra, president of Companhia Docas do Estado de São Paulo (Codesp), the body that manages the port of Santos, the main airport of the South American country.
- During the meeting it was agreed to establish cooperation between the two companies to facilitate the provision of maritime services to Brazilian companies and of the Italian north-east in line with the trend of trade between two countries.The Port Authority of Venice said that the volumes of import / export registered an increase of +50% compared to 2009 and that the north-east Brazil imported Italian products primarily related to manufacturing (700 million euro, +28% ) and agricultural products (200 million euro, +80%) and exports to more than one billion euro transport equipment and base metals. Brazil, however, come in Italy products in the textile and clothing sector (300 million euro), wood (paper) and food products.
- The ports of Venice and Santos is proposing to start a collaboration from the exchange of know-how in environmental management and the cruise industry - a strong interest for Brazil - and to launch joint training activities in logistics, safety & security . The Venetian port authority said that many collaborative activities have already been set: CFLi, the Venetian training consortium, has signed agreements in 2011 with the Italian Chambers of Commerce in South America, including those of Caracas (Venezuela), Montevideo ( Uruguay), Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Sao Paulo (Brazil).
- "With the president Correia Serra - Franco said Sensini - we have set ourselves ambitious goals within the perspective of the increasingly open global trade to the port of Venice. The interchange between the North-East Brazil and today is worth about 2.2 billion euro: it is that our traffic stop should necessarily serve and promote. With the return to depths less than 12 meters and the development of new port terminal offshore the port of Venice in the coming years will be able to respond to the increasingly commercial needs of businesses to the north-eastern South America. "
