The Japanese Masamichi Morooka is the new president of the shipowning association International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and subentra with immediate effect to the Greek Spyros M Polemis who has decided to leave the assignment after six years the guide of the organization.-
- Morooka, that anniversary held to Port Douglas is elected today unanimously in the course of the assembly, in the Queensland, has illustrated the main issues that the ICS will have to face this year: the elimination of the phenomenon of piracy, the reduction of the CO2 missions and the answer of the association to the problems evidenced from the shipwreck of the Coast Concord.

- More in general terms - it has specified Morooka - the ICS will continue to work for the maintenance of general norms for our total industry and their continuous improvement in relation to our level record id safety and of environmental performances, bearing in mind that our final objective is that to annul the incidents and of having a null impact on the atmosphere.
