US NAVY APPROVES YARD CONVERSION PLANS
The US Navy has recently approved the city of Philadelphia's plans
to convert its former naval shipyard into a commercial and industrial
centre that city officials hope will include a commercial shipyard.
The Navy has all but ceased working at the long established shipyard.
The yard recently became a victim of Washington plans to cut back
on military spending.
