PORT SEATTLE BUYS MAMMOTH CRANES
SEATTLE -- The Port of Seattle took delivery late last month,
of two mammoth container cranes that will speed the handling of
cargo from the newest and largest ships in the fast-growing transpacific
The cranes, manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. of
Hiroshima, Japan, are among the world's largest.
They stand 346 feet high with their booms fully raised, about
100 feet higher than the top of the Kingdome.
