Royal Caribbean says that after carefully reviewing the status of its newest ship, Infinity,in conjunction with shipbuilder Chantiers de L'Atlantique, it has decided to delay the launch date by four weeks.

La CE semble mettre un point dhonneur à faire prévaloir le short sea sur la scène du transport européen. Le 5e programme cadre prévoit un groupe de travail thématique pour le short sea, qui devra traiter plusieurs sujets, parmi lesquels la nécessité de développer un cadre pour établir des comparaisons statistiques se rapportant aux divers modes et établir des indicateurs de performance intermodale sur le plan de lenvironnement, et enfin il y a lexamen des prix door-to-door impliquant le short sea pour comparaison avec dautres modes. Il est impératif détablir si le prix est un obstacle au short sea où sil sagit dun problème dimage, de même quil est essentiel de procéder à une décomposition du prix global
en fonction des éléments qui le constituent de manière à apprécier leur impact sur le prix total de la chaîne intermodale dans le concept porte-à-porte, Cristobal Millan De La Lastra, attaché au directorat général TREN de la CE, qui occupait la tribune de la 4e convention Euro-Med tenue récemment à Valence, a laissé entrevoir des perspectives positives pour ce qui est du développement du short sea.

Le 6 octobre dernier marquera une date importante dans lhistoire du port de Ventspils, puisquil sagissait de linauguration officielle dun nouveau terminal mixte ultra-moderne exploité sous le nom de Noord Natie Ventspils Terminals. Le manutentionnaire anversois a non seulement contribué pour 40% à cet investissement de 70 mio. de dollars, mais y a apporté son know how et de plus en assure la gestion. Les 60% restants représentent la participationn de partenaires portuaires locaux. En outre, ce terminal présente la particularité dêtre intégré dans des trafics qui intéressent également le port scaldien.
