Taiwan and China firm on talk terms
Taiwan's new president-elect and the Chinese president yesterday
exchanged offers of talks - but both sides made clear they were
not ready to compromise on the terms of any negotiations.
Chen Shui-bian, who won Taiwan's presidential election on Saturday
despite harsh warnings against him from mainland leaders, said
he was ready to hold talks on any issue.
