IHI makes return to profitability
Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. said Monday it posted
a group net profit of 5.34 billion yen for the first half of fiscal
2000, a turnaround from a loss of 14.74 billion yen a year before,
thanks to cost-cutting.
Before taxes and extraordinary items, the major heavy machinery
maker also registered a profit of 12.03 billion yen for the April-September
period against a year-earlier loss of 19.48 billion yen.
