L’armement Grimaldi (groupe Naples), en dehors de ses services réguliers conros EuroMed, Europe du Nord-Amérique du Sud côte Est et Europe du Nord-COA, est particulièrement actif dans le secteur des car carriers. Des car- carriers opèrent dans le cadre du “EuroMed Shuttle” entre l’Europe du Nord et la Méditerranée, mais aussi sur la route de l’Afrique. Tout semble indiquer que l’armement vise maintenant une taille supérieure, celle des unités d’une capacité de 5.300 voitures, ainsi que nous l’a confirmé la direction générale.
- Emery Worldwide investit 5,85 mio. d’USD dans un hub régional à Singapour
L’expéditeur de fret aérien et maritime Emery Worldwide continue à injecter de l’argent dans ses activités en Extrême-Orient malgré la situation économique précaire dans la région. La filiale du transporteur américain CNF va investir quelque 5,85 mio. de USD dans la construction d’un nouveau centre logistique à Singapour. Le complexe fera fonction de hub régional pour l’Asie du Sud-Est et devrait être opérationnel au troisième trimestre de 2002.
- CMA CGM poursuit la mise en place de Logistics Link
A l’instar des autres mégacarriers Est-Ouest, l’armement français CMA CGM développe progressivement une organisation logistique sous le nom de “Logistics Link”. Cette nouvelle entité œuvre en toute indépendance des activités propres aux lignes régulières qu’exploite le groupe. En effet, pour Logistics Link, la fonction transport ne constitue pas l’élément essentiel, l’objectif primordial étant de développer pour la clientèle des chargeurs et réceptionnaires des services de logistique intégrée qui s’inscrivent dans le contexte de ce qu’on appelle la “supply chain”, qui va de la production à la distribution.
