- LUE approuve officiellement le crédit de survie de la Sabena
La Commission européenne a officiellement approuvé hier après-midi le crédit de soudure de 5 milliards de BEF (125 millions dEUR) du gouvernement belge à la Sabena. Selon la commissaire européenne Loyola de Palacio (Transports), il sagit dun crédit de survie (rescue aid) et cest la dernière fois que la compagnie aérienne belge peut faire appel à laide de lEtat.

Les pays membres de lUnion économique et monétaire ouest-africaine (UEMOA) se sont mis daccord récemment à Dakar pour définir une stratégie visant à renforcer lintégration régionale. Apres une rencontre préliminaire dexperts, les ministres des pays concernés ont pris la décision de renforcer les infrastructures de transport au sein de lUnion. Cette volonté est concrétisée par ladoption dun budget quinquennal denviron 800 milliards de FCFA (quelque 53,3 mia de BEF ou 1,32 mia. dEUR) pour moderniser, en priorité, les infrastructures routières.

Réunis à Luxembourg hier mardi, les ministres européens du Transport ont refusé daccorder un mandat de négociation avec les Etats-Unis à la commissaire européenne aux Transports Loyola de Palacio, qui ne pourra donc pas discutter un accord cadre sur des conditions de concurrence loyale avec les Américains. Elle a uniquement été autorisée à négocier un code de conduite (non contraignant) visant à lutter contre les pratiques de dumping dans le secteur aérien. LUE nentreprend donc rien de concret contre le fait que les compagnies aériennes américaines ont réduit leurs prix jusquà 50% sur les routes transatlantiques grâce à laide dEtat accordée.
