Tout récemment, le président du Conseil régional du Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Michel Delebarre et le ministre-président de la Flandre Patrick Dewael, lors dune rencontre à Lille, mettaient en exergue la volonté de coopérer sur le plan portuaire. Cette coopération est déjà bien réelle, du moins à en juger les développements qui se manifestent dans le port de Dunkerque où des intérêts belges sont particulièrement actifs. Ainsi, le groupe Inter Ferry Boats, filiale de la SNCB semploie à remettre ce port français dans la mouvance de la grande containérisation et y développe dautres activités dans le secteur de la manutention.
- Ostende: lamélioration de laccès au port va de pair avec la protection du littoral
Si le calendrier prévu est respecté, le front maritime dOstende aura une toute autre allure dici la saison dété de 2003. Une plage sera aménagée devant la digue maritime actuelle et laccès au port élargi sera protégé par deux nouveaux barrages en mer en forme de demi-lune.
- La suppression du duty free a fait tomber le CA dEurotunnel de 5% en 2000
Eurotunnel a vu son chiffre daffaires consolidé (non audité) baisser de 5% lannée passée. Il est passé de 6.55 mia. de FRF à 6,2 mia de FRF. Cest dû essentiellement à la suppression des ventes hors taxes, qui ont fait diminuer les ventes dans la distribution de 59% à 609 mio. de FRF (contre 1.470 mio. en 1999). Le CA des navettes a augmenté par contre de 19%, passant de 2.830 mio. à 3.362 mio. de FRF, essentiellement grâce à la hausse très sensible du trafic de navettes fret, le trafic de voitures ayant baissé. Les revenus provenant des redevances des chemins de fer sont demeurés stables (2.2 mia. contre 2.25 mia. de FRF, soit -1%).
