Italy's government was supposed to be doing Genoa a favour when
it selected the birthplace of Christopher Columbus - and Paganini
- to host the annual summit of G8 countries.
The meeting allows Genoa to receive Dollars 100m in state aid
to modernise its sprawling port and improve and expand roads which
the permanently-clogged city had failed
