Weighing up pros and cons
The introduction of 44-tonne vehicles last year should have heralded
some heavyweight chest thumping. Instead it slipped almost unnoticed
onto the UK roads without so much as a rallying toot from the
operators who had long lobbied for it to be passed into law.
Why was this? The 44-tonne dream carried the hopes of fleet operators
of bigger payload movements
