UPS is rolling out money-back guarantees for U.S. residential shipments in the lower 48 states today, partly aimed at erasing a service gap with FedEx which started such a service 2 years ago.

Le holding public espagnol SEPI veut vendre sa participation de 95,24% dans larmement Trasmediterranea à un consortium emmené par le groupe espagnol de construction et de services Acciona. Les autorités de concurrence doivent encore donner leur feu vert, mais les nouveaux propriétaires ont déjà annoncé que leur stratégie pour lentreprise ferry espagnole, désormais privatisée, sera axée sur un développement des services internationaux. Cette expansion devrait permette de transformer la compagnie en un acteur de premier plan sur le marché européen des liaisons par ferry. Le consortium est prêt à débourser 259 mio. dEUR pour Trasmediterranea, mais les actionnaires disposent de suffisamment de réserves pour continuer à investir. En effet, Acciona
investira cette année à elle seule 650 mio. dEUR, dont au moins la moitié ira à lachat dentreprises de transport et de logistique. Ainsi,il a acheté le réputé transporteur espagnol Olloquiegui il y a quelques jours.

Les dernières données - encore provisoires - recueillies de source portuaire à Matadi indiquent que le port maritime congolais a enregistré au premier semestre 2002 des résultats en hausse par rapport à lannée dernière. En terminant lannée 2001 sur un transbordement global de 1,039 million de tonnes, Matadi navait guère fait mieux quen 2000. Mais ces faibles performances navaient rien détonnant compte tenu de la guerre qui touchent des régions parmi les plus productrices du pays depuis plus de quatre ans. En revanche, pour les six premiers mois de 2002, Matadi affiche un trafic global denviron 579.000 tonnes à limport, contre seulement environ 61.000 tonnes à lexport. Cette faiblesse des trafics à la sortie est devenue structurelle pour le plus grand port congolais.
