- Dr Peters takes on NYK over VLCC charter
GERMAN ship financing company Dr Peters has taken Japan’s NYK to arbitration in London over the alleged breach of a charter contract for the 298,500 dwt VLCC Golden Victory. A ruling is expected later this month.
- Frontline defection hits VLCC pool
Frontline’s abandonment of the pool will remove almost one-third of its tonnage in one fell swoop. But pool chairman Morton Hyman, president and chief executive of founder member Overseas Shipholding Group, chose to accentuate the positive.

Claude Martinand, le président de RFF (Réseau Ferré de France), est très clair: Compte tenu de la dette héritée du passé, le système ferroviaire français ne peut pas, même en vingt ans, sortir seul de sa situation actuelle. A juste titre, une solution transitoire avait été mise en place. Mais elle remonte à 1997. Peut-être serait-il temps de trouver aujourdhui une solution plus durable. Pour dire les choses encore plus carrément: il faudra que lEtat mette la main à la poche sil veut vraiment assurer lavenir du mode ferroviaire en France.

Le groupe de transport routier Hungarocamion a révélé à Budapest sa nouvelle stratégie. Miklos Horvath, son directeur commercial, a déclaré à lagence MTI quelle vise un renforcement des opérations en Europe de lEst afin de maintenir sa position de leader en tant que fournisseur de services logistiques aux multinationales. De plus, il veut accroître sa capacité de transport en signant des accords de partenariat. Horvath a fait ces déclarations en marge de la présentation des résultats financiers pour 2001. Ils sont en retrait par rapport à 2000.
