    Major carriers in the trans-Atlantic reached a new slot-sharing agreement that will result in string of ships being withdrawn from the trade, CP Ships announced. 'CP Ships and its partners in the Grand Alliance have reached agreement with Cosco, K Line and Yang Ming to form the Atlantic Space Charter Agreement.

    Dans le contexte des trafics Est-Ouest, le segment Atlantique est lui aussi soumis à des mesures de rationalisation drastiques. La raison est simple: ce trafic est en régression, en ce sens qu’il n’y a plus de croissance westbound tandis que pour les volumes eastbound il y a eu déclin en 2001 et la situaton ne s’améliore guère cette année. C’est dire que la surcapacité pèse sur les revenus des armements. D’où l’accord passé entre CP Ships, ses partenaires de Grand Alliance et le trio composé des armements Cosco, Yanming et K Line et qui se traduit par la création d”un “Atlantic Space Charter Agreement” et par le retrait d’un des deux services que le trio en question assure l’Atlantique.

L’arrivée récente, symbolique certes, de l’opérateur DLC, montre bien que concurrence il y a déjà et qu’elle ne fera que croître. Les ports belges sont des atouts de premier plan pour la SNCB, mais également des objets de convoitise pour ses concurrents.
  • Toyota et PSA Peugeot-Citroën donnent le premier coup de pioche de l’usine commune de Kolin
    Jean-Martin Folz, président de PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Fujio Cho, président de Toyota, et Milos Zeman, Premier ministre de la République tchèque, ont donné mercredi à Kolin, à 65 km à l’Est de Prague, le premier coup de pioche symbolique de la construction de l’usine qui produira en commun un nouveau modèle d’entrée de gamme pour Peugeot, Citroën et Toyota. L’usine entrera en service en 2005 et devrait produire 300.000 véhicules par an (à raison de deux tiers pour PSA et un tiers pour Toyota).
