- Rotterdam: throughput container + 2.3 per cent
Transshipment of containers in the port of Rotterdam grew 2.3 percent in het first half of 2002, compared to the first 6 months of 2001. Total transshipment was down 1.7 per cent.
- Roadway nog sure about rebound
Roadway Corp. (ROAD) had month-to-month increases in tons of cargo hauled in each of the last six months, but the increase in late July was lower than management expected, said Michael W. Wickham, ceo of Roadway. so he is nog sure about the rebound of the economy and shipping volumes.

- KLM Cargo increases rates by 5 t0 10 percent
KLM Cargo announced that it is increasing air freight rates effective November 1, 2002. The move follows the current adjustment of air cargo capacity.
- UK wants 'congestion charging'
Airlines, their passengers and shippers should face higher prices under a "congestion charging" scheme that would force carriers to bid for take-off and landing slots at Britain's busiest airports, the influential think-tank Institute for Public Policy Research is proposing.
