    Le groupe logistique anversois Katoen Natie (KN) a repris le groupe familial canadien Guilbault. Le montant de la transaction n’a pas été communiqué. Selon le président Fernand Huts, l’entreprise est “le Katoennatie du Canada”, le numéro un du marché logistique pour l’industrie pétrochimique et un acteur important du segment des articles de consommation au Canada. Dans le cadre de la stratégie de KN dans la région ALENA, le président Huts a annoncé le lancement de la troisième phase du Houston Polymers Terminal, un investissement de 100 mio. d’EUR dans ce qui doit devenir le plus vaste complexe logistique des Etats-Unis.
  • VW a abandonné son projet dans le camion en Europe
    Bernd Wiedemann, le patron de la division Nutzfahrzeuge de Volkswagen, a déclaré à Reuters en marge de l’IAA à Hanovre qu’il entendait doubler le chiffre d’affaires et le bénéfice de la branche “camions” dans les six ans à venir. Cet objectif ne sera toutefois pas réalisé via le développement d’activités camion en Europe, mais bien au Brésil. Nous avons en effet appris au cours d’un entretien exclusif avec Daniël Coppens, directeur “ventes et marketing” de VW Nfz, que le projet d’entrée sur le marché européen du camion a été abandonné.
  • Anvers renforce sa position de port d’entreposage de café
    Le port d’Anvers, tout comme ceux de Brême et Hambourg, ont été reconnu officiellement par le New York Board of Trade comme port de livraison pour le café Arabica. Le port scaldien renforce donc de la sorte sa position de plus grand port d’entreposage de café en Europe - où l’on trouve jusqu’à 4 mio. de sacs entreposés dans des magasins adaptés. La nouvelle a été annoncée par l’échevin du port, Leo Delwaide, et le président de l’Office belge du café, Patrick Installé, à l’occasion de la visite du port scaldien par Nestor Osorio Londoño, patron de l’International Coffee Organisation. Anvers est reconnu depuis le milieu des années 80 par le marché à terme de Londres pour le café Robusta.
  • La Rhénanie-Westphalie veut un engagement des Pays-Bas sur le Rhin d’Acier
    “Nous nous sommes engagés à aménager une troisième voie entre Emmerich et Oberhausen dans le cadre de la ligne de la Betuwe, ce qui améliorera sensiblement les perspectives de rentabilité de cette ligne ferroviaire. Il s’agit également d’un signal au gouvernement néerlandais que nous désirons réaliser le développement du réseau de transport en concertation, même quand il s’agit d’autres projets comme le Rhin d’Acier... C’est pourquoi nous attendons un signal positif de nos voisins néerlandais en ce qui concerne le Rhin d’Acier, la liaison ferroviaire entre Duisbourg et Anvers.”C’est ce qu’a déclaré le ministre-président Wolfgang Clement de l’Etat fédéré allemand de Rhénanie-Westphalie dans son discours à l’occasion de l’inauguration officielle du nouveau terminal à containers trimodal DIT à Duisbourg. Clement a souligné que la réactivation du Rhin d’Acier améliorera sensiblement la compétitivité du port de Duisbourg et permettra au port rhénan de renforcer son rayonnement international.
