Vers la fin de lannée dernière, alors quau sein du groupe The New World Alliance on prenait les dispositions nécessaires à la réduction de la capacité sur la route Europe-Asie et que se posait la question du maintien ou non des services au terminal rotterdamois dECT, jugé trop cher et peu performant, Anvers était pris en considération, mais aussi dautres terminaux rotterdamois, à savoir le Mærsk Delta Terminal et Hanno/Uniport. On sait quune première décision est déjà tombée, qui sest traduite par la concentration du loop CEX (China-Europe Express) à Anvers au détriment dECT, qui perd ainsi quelque 50.000 containers ou 85.000 TEU. Tout semble indiquer que dautres décisions vont encore
intervenir étant donné que des négociations sont toujours en cours et avec Mærsk Delta Terminal et avec Hanno/Uniport.

La compagnie aérienne luxembourgeoise Luxair a clôturé 2001 sur un bénéfice net de 20,3 mio. dEUR. Cela représente une augmentation de 4% par rapport à 2000. Malgré tous les efforts des pompiers anversois, il y a de fortes chances que le transporteur de voitures panaméen Silver Ray sera entièrement détruit par les flammes. Le navire était amarré à hauteur du quai 406 à la darse Churchill lorsquun incendie, dont la cause est encore inconnue, sest déclenché lundi soir vers 23h dans une des voitures transportées.
