Larmement Cobelfret Ferries et son partenaire à 50% dans C2C Shipping Lines, la compagnie ECS (European Container Service) lance le 4 avril prochain un deuxième service entre Rouen et lIrlande, cette fois à destination de Warrenpoint dans le nord du pays, près de la frontière de lIrlande du Nord. Pour ce faire, un petit PC dune capacité de 85 containers de 45 pieds, le m/v Induna a été affrété pour une première période de 6 mois, avec option pour des prolongations.
- Forte hausse des résultats financiers de Joyau en 2001
La société française de messagerie rapide et dexpress Joyau a réalisé un CA de près de 200 mio. dEUR en 2001, contre 160 mio. dEUR en 2000. Cette forte hausse sest produite dans le contexte du programme de forte expansion lancé au début de 2000, qui prévoit un doublement de la taille de la société en France. Pour cette année, un CA de 245 mio. dEUR est prévu. A la fin de cette année, le réseau devrait compter 50 à 55 agences, contre une trentaine au début de 2000. Cette croissance ambitieuse, néanmoins, se fait sans pénaliser la rentabilité. En effet, un bénéfice dexploitation de 5,2 mio. dEUR a été dégagé en 2000 (et un bénéfice net de 2,7 mio. dEUR). pour 2001 nont pas encore été arrêtés, mais ils sont sensiblement meilleurs encore, nous a déclaré Jacques Godet, le PDG de lentreprise, en marge de la SITL.

La congestion croissante qui touche le transport routier, la libéralisation du transport par la voie deau et des mesures comme la diminution sensible des droits de navigation et le co-financement des murs de quai par les autorités ne sont pas étrangers à cette évolution. Il nen reste pas moins vrai que lunité fluviale ne pourra véritablement jouer son rôle de mode de transport de lavenir que lorsquun
certain nombre dobstacles auront été éliminés et ce, tant côté eau que terrestre. Cest ce qui sest avéré lors de létape gantoise du Tour de Flandre organisé par Promotie Binnenvaart Vlaanderen (PBV) à loccasion de son dixième anniversaire.

Cest lavis exprimé par lEuropean Maritime Pilots Association (EMPA). Lassociation avec siège à Anvers se dit déçue du manque dadaptations au projet de texte de la directive portuaire et plus particulièrement de louverture des services de pilotage à la concurrence. Elle estime quune libéralisation inspirée par une réduction des coûts portuaires témoigne dun manque de vision à long terme qui risque de menacer la sécurité. Commission, armements, chargeurs, prestataires de services
maritimes (agents, expéditeurs, etc.) et ports restent favorables à une libéralisation.
