- Qantas hit by second strike
Ground staff with Qantas Airways staged their second one-day strike of the month on Monday with mixed results that left both sides of the dispute claiming victory.

BAA, the British airports operator, defended itself against claims that it had overstated investment plans by 1 billion pound to boost its claim for higher landing fees.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is seeking to strengthen the carrier's current position in the British market by increasing frequencies and capacity on various routes in the coming winter season, Sunday, October 27, 2002, through Saturday, March 29, 2003. New cargo services are added.
- Singapore plans 20 more berths
The government of Singapore has set aside land for 20 more berths at Pasir Panjang for 'whoever can best run the berths, be it PSA Corporation, Jurong Port, other port operators or shipping lines', Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said in his annual National Day Rally speech yesterday.

Cest ce qua répondu le directeur de Superfast Ferries, Yannis Criticos, aux questions relatives à lavenir du service que larmement grec assure depuis quelques mois entre le port écossais de Rosyth et Zeebrugge, et au lent développement du trafic de fret sur cette route. Criticos a toutefois refusé de révéler des chiffres. Du côté écossais, un appel a été lancé aux transporteurs routiers la semaine dernière pour les inciter à soutenir le service et à en garantir le maintien.
- Nouvelle approche stratégique de Singapour dans la manutention de containers
Le premier ministre de Singapour, Goh Chok Tong, a clairement affirmé dans un discours que lEtat voulait maintenir à tout prix son statut de principal hub pour la navigation de ligne en Asie du Sud-Est. Il a confirmé que lEtat avait prévu des terrains pour 20 emplacements supplémentaires pour porte-containers et que ces emplacements seront exploités par celui qui en sera le mieux à même, même si cela signifie que Singapour devra pour la première fois de son histoire passer par un autre groupe que PSA Corp, qui domine actuellement la manutention de containers dans cet Etat.
- La crise aérienne américaine pourrait profiter aux compagnies européennes
Il semble que la crise dans la navigation aérienne américaine pourrait devenir lénième illustration de lexpression le malheur des uns fait le bonheur des autres. Du côté européen, les compagnies aériennes sont prêtes à attirer la clientèle vers elles. Cest ce qui ressort dune enquête de Reuters. En raison de différents facteurs - dont une plus forte accentuation sur le transport de fret - les compagnies européennes ont mieux survécu à la crise que les américaines.
