West Coast terminal operators said that they will shut down the nation's largest port complex Friday morning if longshoremen don't end a work slowdown against a stevedore there.

Katoen Natie a inauguré officiellement le Logipark à Terneuzen. Il s’agit de la première phase de ce projet portant sur 8.900 m2 d’entreposage (7.900 m2 en hangars et 1.000 m2 à l’extérieur), 240 m2 de bureaux et 40 silos d’une capacité de 300 m3. Le parc logistique constitue pour Katoen Natie la pierre angulaire fluviale des axes Est-Ouest et Nord-Sud.
- L’ILWU met Los Angeles et Oakland au régime du travail ralenti
Les choses ne s’arrangent pas sur la côte ouest des Etats-Unis, où le syndicat des dockers ILWU (International Longshore & Warehouse Union) accentue la pression en commençant à instaurer officieusement un régime de travail au ralenti. L’action a d’abord affecté le port de Los Angeles/Long Beach, mais le mouvement s’est ensuite étendu à Oakland. Ces deux ports traitent la majeure partie du trafic maritime sur la côte ouest des USA.

Malgré la baisse du marché du camion en Europe, Renault Trucks voit sa situation évoluer positivement depuis son intégration au sein du groupe Volvo. Ainsi, au premier semestre 2002, les ventes du constructeur français ont baissé de 7,9% seulement, alors que le marché dans son ensemble régressait de 15,4%. Les parts de marché sont en hausse et une troisième place a pu être obtenue cette année dans plusieurs segments. De plus, cette évolution se fait de manière rentable. Philippe Mellier, PDG de Renault Trucks, a donc pu afficher une certaine satisfaction lors de la conférence de presse donnée à l’occasion du salon IAA de Hanovre.

La Commission portuaire flamande (VHC - Vlaamse Havencommissie) s’inquiète de l’impact du décret-programme de fin 2001 sur le décret portuaire approuvé en 1999.
