Lors de la seconde journée du “Symposium maritime et portuaire” de l’ITMMA (Institute of Transport and Maritime Management Antwerp), tant le président de l’Entreprise portuaire de Rotterdam Willen Scholten que le président Steven Lak du grand manutentionnaire ECT ont plaidé pour un rôle plus (pro)actif des autorités - plus précisément de l’Union Européenne - dans la planification des nouvelles expansions portuaires, plus particulièrement au niveau de la manutention de containers. “Une énorme expansion de la capacité en terminaux s’annonce d’ici 2010 et il existe un réel danger de surcapacité, car ces investissements ne sont pas toujours réalisés pour les bonnes raisons. La demande est en outre surestimée, tout le monde voulant
attirer les mêmes flux de marchandises”, a déclaré Scholten. “Une approche plus adéquate consisterait à planifier les expansions portuaires à un niveau supérieur et à les placer dans un contexte plus large. Il n’est pas nécessaire que tous les ports deviennent des acteurs importants sur le marché.”
- Vopak va se rescinder en entreposage citernier et distribution chimique
Le conseil d’administration de Vopak se refusait hier à tout commentaire jusqu’à lundi prochain, mais il est pratiquement certain que le groupe confirmera l’information livrée par le quotidien économique néerlandais “Financieele Dagblad” concernant l’annulation de la fusion des groupes Van Ommeren et Pakhoed au sein de Vopak. L’entreprise devrait à nouveau être scindée en deux entités séparées toutes deux cotées en bourse. La direction de Vopak s’est contentée pour l’heure de publier un communiqué affirmant que “le groupe se trouve en plein milieu du processus de révision stratégique annoncé”. Ces quelques mots et l’information parue dans le quotidien d’affaires néerlandais selon laquelle Vopak scindera ses activités
en entreposage citernier et distribution de produits chimiques, ont suffi vendredi matin pour suspendre l’échange des titres Vopak à la bourse d’Amsterdam.
- Agro-Maas développe ses activités en Hongrie
L’entreprise gantoise Agro-Maas s’est clairement profilée ces dernières années en tant que prestataire de services logistiques pour le secteur des produits agricoles. Pour l’instant, il semble que l’entreprise poursuivra sa croissance tant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur, car le fondateur Ronny Maas vise à nouveau l’Europe de l’Est et est en négociations avec le port intérieur de Gyor-Gönyu pour la construction d’un silo horizontal. De nouveaux investissements interviendraient également en Ukraine. Le groupe assurera cette année le chargement de 800 à 1.000 navires et contrôlera un trafic de 2,5 millions de tonnes de vracs agricoles comme les aliments pour bétail, les graines oléagineuses, le riz et les huiles minérales.
