In the second quarter of 2002, DaimlerChrysler said it continued the positive trend of the first quarter, despite the generally difficult market conditions.

The strength of low-cost airlines during the slowdown, was underlined as Southwest Airlines reported a $102 million second quarter 2002 profit, in contrast to bigger US rivals, such as American, which have reported heavy losses this week.

Northwest Airlines Corp reported a second quarter net loss of $93 million or $1.08 per common share.
- Danzas' names US security director
Danzas named Arthur G. Arway to the post of Security Director, Americas and will be based at the North American headquarters in Newark, NJ.
- Laccona from EGL to Italian forwarder
EGL's coo Giorgio Laccona has left EGL Inc. to become president of Italian-based forwarder Savino Del Bene USA Inc. Laccona (44), joined EGL in December 2000 as chief operating officer-international, but said he left the company on July 6 because his family did not want to move to Houston, where EGL is based.
