Schenker said in the first three quarters of 2002 external sales were 4,612 million euro, a 'modest increase' on the same period in 2001.

Nippon Express Co Ltd, Japan's largest general transport company, said yesterday that its first-half group net profit rose 30 per cent, helped by a reduction in fixed costs and a pick-up in air cargo.

The Senate in Washington passed a bill to upgrade security for cargo flown on passenger jets, in order to require the Transportation Security Administration to conduct regular inspections of cargo handling facilities, and create a more reliable database of shipping firms that contract with the airlines.

- La menace de blocages routiers en France se précise
Les négociations entre associations patronales et syndicats du transport routier français ont échoué mercredi après-midi. La pierre d’achoppement principale était la révision des conditions sociales. Du côté du patronat on affiche une prudente confiance, mais du côté syndical, on est - officiellement en tout cas - très pessimiste. A la demande du patronat, de nouvelles négociations se tiendront ce vendredi matin. La CFDT et la CGT ont toutefois annoncé le maitien de leur préavis de grève à partir du ce dimanche 24 novembre à 22h. Les transporteurs néerlandais ont d’ores et déjà réagi et écrit à leur ministre des Trasports afin qu’il intervienne auprès de Paris et de Bruxelles pour que la libre circulation demeure garantie en France.
- Exel passe un contrat avec Plextor pour la gestion du stock européen
Le logisticien Exel a conclu un accord avec Plextor et devient ainsi le partenaire de ce groupe japonais pour ses opérations logistiques en Europe. L’accord porte sur le trafic à l’entrée depuis l’Asie et englobe le stockage, le kitting, la distribution régionale et les services techniques. L’opération sera coordonnée depuis le centre logistique d’Exel à Wommelgem.
- MAN va concentrer la production de ses cabines à Munich
Le constructeur allemand de camions et de bus va concentrer la production des cabines de camions dans son usine de Munich. Cela se fera d’ici une bonne année, à l’occasion de la préparation du lancement des nouvelles gammes L et M. C’est ce que nous avons appris en marge d’une visite d’usine chez le constructeur bavarois. Aujourd’hui, les cabines des véhicules de distribution L et M sont assemblées chez Steyr, en Autriche.
- TPG veut doubler son chiffre d’affaires en Allemagne d’ici trois ans
Après la libéralisation à part entière du marché postal européen en 2007, l’entreprise postale, express et logistique néerlandaise TPG veut proposer une alternative valable aux services de Deutsche Post en Allemagne. A cet effet, l’entreprise développe actuellement des stratégies. D’une part, TPG veut reprendre une entreprise logistique allemande l’année prochaine, d’autre part, le chiffre d’affaires allemand devrait être doublé d’ici trois ans.
