- Good result KLM
KLM today reported an operating profit of 41 million euro for the first Quarter of fiscal year 2002/03, ending June 30, 2002, compared to an operating profit of 23 million last year.
- Ryder net earnings improve, revenue down
Ryder System reported second quarter 2002 net earnings improved 48 percent to $29.5 million, compared with $19.9 million in the second quarter of 2001. Revenue for the three months that ended June 30, 2002 was $1.21 billion, down 7 percent from $1.29 billion in the comparable period last year.

En raison des problèmes qui ont surgi sur un certain nombre de terminaux à containers suite à la forte hausse du trafic des derniers mois, une convention a été signée hier jeudi dans les locaux anversois de lAGHA, lorganisation coupole du secteur privé dAnvers. Les transporteurs routiers (et armateurs fluviaux) se plaignaient des temps dattente trop longs, plus particulièrement sur le Noordzeeterminal de Hesse Noord Natie. La convention garantit un délai de transit moyen pour le transport routier de containers sur les terminaux de HNN. LAGHA fera le cas échéant fonction darbitre. Une commission technique se chargera de la mise en oeuvre de nouvelles améliorations.
- Lharmonisation de la taxe sur le diesel constitue une énième augmentation des coûts
La proposition de la Commission européenne visant à harmoniser complètement la taxe sur le diesel dici 2010 en introduisant une même taxe de 410 EUR par 1000 l pour les véhicules de plus de 16t déclenche tant des réactions positives que négatives. Les secondes viennent des associations de transporteurs belges et néerlandais. Les transporteurs français applaudissent quant à eux la proposition. Tous les autres Etats-membres ne sont pas non plus aussi heureux de cette mesure. Pour dix pays des Quinze, cela se traduira par une hausse des prix. Dautre part, lAllemagne et surtout le RU voient disparaître une grande partie de leurs recettes générées par la taxe sur le diesel parce quils doivent réduire leurs accises.
- La Commission Portuaire Flamande veut réagir de manière pro-active à la politique de lUE
Dans lavant-propos du rapport annuel 2001 de la Commission Portuaire flamande, le professeur Willy Winkelmans - le président de la CPF - sinquiète des conséquences que pourrait avoir le Port Package de lUE sur les ports. La CPF va en conséquence procéder à une étude sur limpact de la politique européenne sur les ports flamands. Winkelmans se préoccupe également de limage négative que colportent les ports dans lopinion publique. Il estime par contre que la coopération entre ports sannonce prometteuse.
- Containers et sécurité: lUE va-t-elle faire annuler les accords bilatér aux avec les USA?
Le fait que trois membres de lUE, à savoir les Pays-Bas, la Belgique et la France... lAllemagne suivrait dans les prochains jours... aient signé des accords bilatéraux avec les USA portant sur la sécurité des trafics containérisés qui leur sont destinés, a provoqué de sérieuses objections de la part de la CE. Cet accord avec les douanes américaines implique la présence de quelques-uns de ses représentants dans les ports européens de ces Etats-membres qui traitent ces trafics, à savoir Rotterdam, Anvers et Le Havre pour linstant. Il sagit là dun des aspects qui motive lirritation de ladite CE, un autre étant celui de la signature daccords bilatéraux. Bruxelles passe maintenant à laction.
