2001 Trade Ends with US$9.5 Bil. Surplus
The government's provisional statistics showed that the nation's
exports and imports both dropped sharply last year, due largely
to the overall global economic downturn. The trade, however, ended
up with a surplus of US$9.5 billion.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE)
Wednesday, exports reached US$150.6 billion last year, down 12.5
percent from the previous year, while imports totaled US$141.11
