Rough sailing for container freight

SHIP charter rates are set to fall between 8 per cent and 15 per
cent this year compared with 2001 as overcapacity and the global
economic downturn adversely affect shipowners.
Nigel Gardiner, Drewry Shipping Consultants managing director,
said: "Freight rates are still under considerable pressure with
no improvement before 2003."
