Johannesburg - Port officials were meeting major shipping lines
on Thursday in a bid to stave off a congestion surcharge due to
be imposed on Friday because of long delays at South Africa's
ports.
Container lines serving South African ports said on Wednesday
they would impose a surcharge of US$75 a container to recoup losses
incurred since mid-2001,
