Shipping insecurity
Hodgepodge system guards the nation's seaports, and in
post-Sept. 11 world, that has officials worried

Every day, 800,000 cargo containers pass through the nation's
seaports.
Only 2 percent of those containers -- which are used to transport
everything from imported car parts to running shoes -- are opened
and inspected by U.S. Customs Service inspectors on site.
