The latest weekly reports form DOE and API went against market expectations of a moderate crude build and draw in gasoline stocks, and showed a bigger-than-expected rise in stock of distillates.
- California: Cautious optimism on new Bunker Tax Bill
The Californian bunker industry now entertains well-founded hopes that the damaging bunker sales tax could be abolished shortly as it has the support of several state senators. A new bill, Senate Bill 808, is facing the first of 2 hearings today and later a vote at the Californian Assembly and Senate floors. If it goes through, it would be on the state Governor's desk shortly, where last year's decision to veto the bunker tax exemption seems less likely this time around.
