October 2, 2003 Lukoil-FTS/Hofftrans to develop Rotterdam terminal Unni Einemo A partnership between Lukoil Benelux, a subsidiary of the Russian oil major Lukoil and FTS/Hofftrans, one of the biggest barge operators in the ARA region, has been selected to be the new operator of the former SITA-terminal in Rotterdam Botlek. According to a company press release, Lukoil-FTS/Hofftrans was selected among a group of companies showing interest in taking over the terminal, following an open procedure selection process undertaken by the Rotterdam Municipal Port Management (RMPM). Originally 37 companies from the whole spectrum of the oil and chemicals industry showed their interest for the terminal, of which some formed partnerships. In the end four offered the best operational and financial proposals, according to the press release, adding that "Eventually strategic aspects were decisive for the final choice" ......
