June 19, 2003 Ports body CEO argues for independence via transfer of shares CAPE TOWN The transfer of the National Ports Authority (NPA) out of the Transnet fold to become an independent, state-owned, entity should happen by means of a transfer of shares, NPA CEO Siyabonga Gama proposed yesterday. He said a transfer of shares in the NPA from Transnet to the state would remove uncertainty as to which assets and liabilities were being transferred.
