Estabillo / MindaNews GENERAL SANTOS CITY ­ Presidential Assistant for Mindanao Jesus Dureza is proposing amendments to the country’s shipping laws to allow foreign shipping companies to operate within domestic cargo and passenger shipping routes. Dureza, also chair of the Mindanao Economic and Development Council (Medco), said allowing foreign vessels to enter domestic shipping operations would ultimately increase competition and enhance the deregulation of the local maritime industry which was implemented in 1994.
