New ballast rules could create $10b tech market

(SINGAPORE) New, stricter rules for the treatment and decontamination of ballast water are expected to spawn a $10 billion market for treatment technologies in the next 10 years.
And Singapore industries and maritime organisations are not letting the opportunity pass.
A unit of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering (IESE), has been in the forefront of a collaborative venture here to research and develop shipboard ballast systems
