Port strike will cut off food, fuel, medicine

A marine labour dispute slashed ship traffic along the British Columbia coast to a trickle Friday, cutting off vital deliveries of everything from groceries and medical supplies to fuel and forest products.

The dispute is expected to cost the B.C. economy tens of millions of dollars per day in lost shipping activity, and threatens thousands of marine-dependent jobs, as well as deliveries of food and fuel to residents of isolated coastal communities ......
