Putin opens major road in Far East

Russia's west and east are now linked by road and the link is stable, announced President Vladimir Putin opening Thursday in Khabarovsk a stretch of a new highway that will make it possible to drive across the enormous country.
Putin, who is running for a second four-year term in the March 14 election, flew across seven time zones to personally inaugurate the 2,165-kilometer Chita-to-Khabarovsk road link - the last stretch of the highway connecting Moscow and the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok
