- MPA gives warning as new Marpol rules take effect
SINGAPORE has warned it may deny entry or detain tankers already in port should they fail to meet the provisions of the revised Marpol Convention on single-hulled tankers, which came into effect yesterday.
- Evergreen to pay US$25m in pollution case
EVERGREEN International SA, the Taiwan- based container shipping company, pleaded guilty to 24 criminal charges of illegally discharging oily bilge water into international waters and will pay US$25 million in fines and community service grants, the United States government said.
