August 29, 2005 Katrina shuts lower Mississippi River Impact seen critical to grain exports, fuel imports By Jim Jelter, MarketWatch SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Hurricane Katrina's crippling impact on the transport sector is being felt along most of the Gulf Coast and far inland, with the nation's biggest and world's fifth biggest port by volume shut to commerce shut until further notice.
