February 24, 2005 Cargo volume up by 6pc at the port of Mombasa Patrick Beja The Port of Mombasa handled an additional one million metric tonnes of cargo last year compared to the previous year, it was announced yesterday. Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) corporate services manager Gichiri Ndua said the port had recorded an all time high cargo volume of 12,920,000 metric tonnes in 2004 compared to 11,931,000 metric tonnes in 2003.
