Cosco Pacific Ltd, Asia's third largest container terminal operator, boosted second-half profit 81 per cent, helped by surging shipments of Chinese-made toys, furniture and clothing to Europe and the US.

The Singapore Maritime Officers' Union (SMOU), together with the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) and the Maritime Port Authority (MPA), has helped the 22 stranded crew on the stricken bulker MV Lady Belinda recover US$102,000 in unpaid wages owed them since last December.
